SCA acquires the Czech packaging company OBALEX

SCA acquires the Czech packaging company OBALEX SCA strengthens further its business in Central and Eastern Europe by acquiring the remainder (51%) of the Czech packaging company OBALEX s.r.o. In 1999, OBALEX had a total turnover of approximately CZK 1000 M (SEK 230 M). The company produces corrugated board and has operations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. A large proportion of its production consists of so-called micro-flute packaging and high-quality pre-printing. OBALEX produced some 90 million m² of corrugated board in 1999 and employs some 500 people. OBALEX was privatised in 1993. Its corrugated board units consist of two integrated box plants (Jilové and Boletice) and five sheet plants. OBALEX has a market share of 20 % in the Czech Republic.
