Unique environmental profile
We are today a world leader in terms of energy and resource efficiency. In our state-of-the-art pulp facilities, we produce pulp of the highest quality. Made from raw material from our own forests, with extremely low environmental impact.
We continously strive to reduce our impact on the environment and economize our resources by developing and improving the production process.
Pulp wood from the forest and chips from the sawmills are boiled to become bleached softwood kraft pulp, NBSK, large amounts of green energy are also produced in the process. We also manufacture chemical thermomechanical pulp, CTMP.
SCA is Europe's largest private forest owner, with a forest holding of 2.6 million hectares. In our well-manged forests, we combine the production of valuable forest raw materials with an active concern for nature. Today, we have twice as much forest in Sweden as a hundred years ago. Forests that absorb an abundance of carbon dioxide. And for every tree harvested, we plant more than two new ones.
Within SCA's forests, the growing forest increases, in fact significantly more than if we were not to use it. Annually, SCA grows approximately 100 million seedlings that are replanted in the forest. The trees are allowed to grow for almost a hundred years before we harvest them. The treees we use produce recyclable products with the lowest possible environmental impact.
