Pellets for heating and energy production
Pellets are a standardized biofuel made from sawdust and planer shavings generated by the wood-processing industry. Through drying and compression, the raw material is transformed into a compact fuel that is easy to store and transport. The consistent fuel properties of pellets provide predictable conditions for combustion and energy production.

Pellets are a renewable fuel used for heat generation in applications ranging from large district heating plants and process industries to commercial properties and private homes. They can be used as an alternative to fossil fuels and electricity and are particularly well suited for facilities with a high, stable, and continuous demand for heat or steam.
SCA’s pellets are produced from sawdust and planer shavings generated when logs are processed into wood products. By refining sawdust into pellets, we make use of an even greater share of every harvested tree, contributing to efficient resource utilization and a more sustainable value chain.
Pellet delivery capacity of 500,000 tonnes
SCA has an annual pellet production capacity of 340,000 tonnes through wholly owned and jointly owned production facilities. In addition, we have sales and delivery agreements covering 160,000 tonnes of pellets produced by Moelven.
Deliveries across the Nordic region
Our own pellet production at several locations, combined with the sale and distribution of Moelven’s production volumes from Karlskoga and Sokna, enables deliveries across a wide geographical area.
We offer deliveries by truck and vessel and operate throughout the Nordic region, with the capability to supply customers in other European markets as well.

SCA pellet quality – high and consistent
SCA has more than 30 years of experience in pellet production. An important part of our process is maintaining a consistently high pellet quality. When used in a correctly sized and properly installed heating system, consistent pellet quality can contribute to more stable and reliable combustion.
SCA Pellets exceed the requirements of Swedish Standard A1. They offer higher energy content and a higher ash melting temperature, while maintaining a lower ash content. The raw material consists of sawdust and planer shavings from pine and spruce, with no additives.
Pellets are tested several times a day during production and are also regularly verified by certified independent organizations.

Pellet delivery area for businesses
We typically deliver by bulk truck or chip truck within a radius of 0 to 350 km from our production facilities. If required, we can also offer pellet deliveries over longer distances, provided that cost-effective transportation can be ensured.
For larger volumes, deliveries can be arranged by vessel from several of our facilities, making the delivery area virtually unlimited.
By carrying out regular maintenance on your pellet burner or stove and cleaning the bulk storage at regular intervals, you can reduce the risk of operational issues such as breakdowns. Regular upkeep also helps ensure that you get the maximum performance and efficiency from your pellet heating system.
