The Galtström families baked large amounts of crispbread and flatbread here. The flour came from the ironworks’ own mill. Bread is still made in the oven today.
The wash house section of the building was also frequently used by the women who lived at the ironworks. They boiled their washing in the iron pot and then rinsed it in the church dam. You could still see women standing in drums submerged in water beating and rinsing their washing as late as the 1930s.
