New container port in Sundsvall

SCA's investment in a new container port as well as new cargo handling areas in the port of Tunadal, Sundsvall, are now completed.

SCA is investing 460 MSEK in a new container port and new areas for cargo handling. The project of building a new container port was completed by the end of 2023 and officially inaugurated end of May 2024. The port is now up and running with operational activities.

The new container port makes it possible to receive larger vessels, both container ships and break bulk vessels. With this investment we will be able to offer even more efficient and competitive transports of products that are increasing in volumes in our region.

The new port is part of the other investments in the Tunadal port. In addition to SCA's investment in expanding the container port, the municipality of Sundsvall has built Sundsvall's Logistics park, an investment which means that cargo handling moves from the railway terminal in central Sundsvall to the Tunadal port. In connection with this, the Swedish Transport Administration has also built several connecting railroad tracks to the harbor and electrified the track nearest the Tunadal port.
