Invest in a future in forestry – apply for a forestry-related university education
Would you like to work in an exciting future-oriented industry where forests, forestry, sustainability, and climate issues shape your everyday work? Then a university education with a forestry focus could be the right choice for you.
The importance of the forest sector to a sustainable society has never been clearer, and it continues to grow as Sweden addresses the challenges of climate change. To meet these challenges, we need to further develop the use of forest resources and attract more dedicated professionals with strong expertise in forestry.
You can gain this expertise through higher education by choosing one of the following forestry programs:
- SLU (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) offers four bachelor’s degree programs specializing in Forest Science, Forest Management, Forest Economics, and Forest & Landscape.
- Gammelkroppa Forestry School offers training to become a Forest Technician (web site is only in Swedish).
- Linnaeus University offers the Forestry Bachelor’s Programme (web site is only in Swedish).
In 2024, Linnaeus University opened two new study locations in Sävar and Gävle to make the program even more accessible. This allows students to combine distance learning and digital classrooms with in-person meetings in Sävar, Gävle, or Växjö. The initiative is a collaboration between the forest industry, Linnaeus University, and Skogforsk.
During your studies and after graduation, you will find a wide range of attractive employers in the sector, including Billerud, Holmen Skog, Mellanskog, Norra Skog, SCA, Stora Enso, and Sveaskog.
