Capacity and Supply

Through our own production, storage capacity and established logistics solutions, we are well positioned to ensure reliable deliveries of renewable fuels. Our capacity enables us to tailor fuel mixes to meet customer requirements and plan deliveries using different modes of transport. This provides flexible and efficient logistics solutions that can contribute to a reliable and resilient fuel supply.

11.2 TWh of bioenergy

In 2025, SCA produced 11.2 TWh of bioenergy.
Of this, 8.7 TWh was used at SCA’s own facilities, while 2.2 TWh was delivered to external customers.

Of the 2.2 TWh delivered to external customers:

0.8 TWh was refined biofuels – wood pellets
1.0 TWh was unrefined biofuels – bark, sawdust and by-products from forestry
0.4 TWh was district heating and waste heat

500,000 tonnes of pellets

SCA has a production capacity of 340,000 tonnes of pellets per year at wholly and partly owned facilities, as well as sales and delivery agreements for 160,000 tonnes of pellets manufactured by Moelven.

Delivery options

Truck transport offers great flexibility in terms of routes, delivery schedules, access to ports, terminals, receiving pits, and bulk silos. Deliveries by chip truck and bulk truck (pellets) are our most common transportation options for shorter distances.

Large pellet shipments can be loaded onto vessels at Luleå, Härnösand, Sundsvall, Karlskoga, and Sokna. Forest fuels such as bark and wood chips can also be delivered by vessel.

From several of our terminals, we can offer rail deliveries of fuels sourced from forestry operations and sawmills.

Flexible deliveries of forest fuels

With an extensive network of strategically located terminals and ports, we can deliver forest fuels by truck, rail, and vessel. Our infrastructure enables us to tailor fuel blends to meet our customers' specific requirements and to plan deliveries using different modes of transport, creating flexible and efficient logistics solutions.

Pellet delivery area for businesses

We typically deliver by bulk truck or chip truck within a radius of 0 to 350 km from our production facilities. If required, we can also offer pellet deliveries over longer distances, provided that cost-effective transportation can be ensured.

For larger volumes, deliveries can be arranged by vessel from several of our facilities, making the delivery area virtually unlimited.

Pellet production

Pellet production is about more than simply compressing sawdust. Through drying, processing, and pelletising, raw sawdust is transformed from a moist and bulky by-product into a dry, energy-dense biofuel that is easy to store, transport, and use.
