Pellets can be part of a flexible heating solution. With a fuel supply stored at home and the option to combine pellets with other heat sources, you can adapt your heating to the needs of your home, your own preferences, and changing external conditions.
Why pellets can provide more stable heating costs
Once you have purchased your pellets, the cost of your heating remains the same until the fuel is used up. This can give you greater control over a portion of your heating expenses and help make heating costs more predictable.
Pellet prices have historically been relatively stable over time and have not shown the same level of price fluctuations as electricity, according to statistics from the Swedish Pellets Association.
How pellets compare economically with other heating solutions depends on current energy prices, consumption, the type of heating system, and the specific characteristics of the property.
Pellets when heating demand is at its highest
With pellets, you can continue to benefit from the full heating capacity your system was designed to deliver, even during periods of very cold weather. Unlike some heating technologies, such as certain heat pumps, pellet heating systems are not directly affected by outdoor temperatures in the same way.

Bulk or Bagged Pellets
Pellets can be delivered in bulk by tanker truck and pneumatically blown into a dedicated pellet storage facility. Bulk deliveries are well suited for homes equipped with a pellet boiler or pellet burner.

A Pellet Heating System: The Heart of the Home or a Complementary Solution

Modern pellet systems are increasingly automated, allowing operation with minimal manual handling. Start-up and shut-down can be controlled by a thermostat. With mobile connectivity, for example, you can start a pellet stove well before arriving at your holiday home.

Why wood pellets can be stored for a long time
When our wood pellets leave the production presses, they have a temperature of approximately 100°C and are essentially sterilized and free from microorganisms. The low moisture content of SCA pellets, around 7%, makes it very difficult for mould, bacteria, and other decomposing organisms to grow.
We have not observed any change in the fuel's properties over time, provided that the pellets are stored in dry conditions.
Pellets during power outages
A pellet stove normally requires electricity for functions such as controls, fuel feeding, and fans.
For some models, backup power solutions can be used to keep the stove operating during temporary power outages. The appropriate solution depends on the stove's design and power requirements. Always consult the manufacturer's instructions before selecting a backup power system for your pellet stove.
Local fuels increase resilience
Pellets are a fuel produced in Sweden. Domestically produced fuels can reduce dependence on imported energy sources and provide greater flexibility when conditions in the energy market change.
Questions and answers
Heating with pellets is now an almost fully automated process. However, the system still requires some routine maintenance, such as removing ash, cleaning the equipment, and refilling the pellet supply. The amount of maintenance needed depends on the type of heating system installed.
Pellets have a higher energy density than firewood and therefore need to be burned in specially designed pellet boilers, pellet burners, or pellet stoves.
You can heat your property using either a pellet burner connected to a boiler system or a pellet stove, depending on your heating needs and the characteristics of the building.
The colour of finished pellets depends on:
- the blend of pine and spruce used, with a higher proportion of spruce resulting in lighter-coloured pellets
- how the raw material has been stored
- how the raw material is dried during production (for example, flue gas drying, steam drying, or no drying at all)
