Organizational changes within SCA

Organizational changes within SCA Jan Åström (44) has been appointed Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO. He will assume this position on 1 November 2000. Åström is joining SCA from Modo Paper where most recently he served as President. Prior to this he has held various executive positions within SCA since 1993. Åström's main tasks will be to actively work with strategic, central issues regarding the Group's expansion and building profitability. Åström will also assume the central responsibility for development and investment matters, which is currently held by the Group's Executive Vice President Alf de Ruvo. de Ruvo (62) will retire at year-end 2000. However, for a number of years he will dedicate some time to specific research and environmental issues within the Group. At year-end 2000, Åke Rietz (55) will resign his position as Executive Vice President and CFO to focus his time for a number of years on the Group's expansion plans in North and Latin America. His tasks include contacts with financial markets in the region as well as various acquisition and investment projects and follow-up of current business activities. Lennart Persson, currently in charge of Group Accounting, has been assigned responsibility for the Group's functions Accounting and Financial control. The treasury function headed by Carl-Axel Olson, President of AB SCA Finans, is unchanged. Anders Nyberg, currently Deputy General Counsel in SCA, has been appointed head of the Group's Legal Affairs staff, which will report to Executive Vice President Michael Bertorp, who is also secretary to the SCA Board. Bertorp's area of responsibility includes acquisition and divestment matters and the Group's central resources for business development and strategic planning. Sten Lindholm, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations will also report to Michael Bertorp. The Accounting and Financial control, Treasury and Human Resources functions report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.
