SCA and Uni-Charm start factory for new incontinence pant product SCA of Sweden and Uni-Charm Corporation of Japan, started production of the new TENA pants incontinence product today at their Uni-Charm Mölnlycke BV joint venture in Hoogezand, in the north of Holland. TENA pants is the first absorbent incontinence product in Europe that can be put on and taken off like ordinary underwear and is similar produced to SCA Hygiene Products well known Up&Go diapers pants. Uni-Charm Corporation, Japan's market leader of incontinence products has developed this new product that now is commerzialised in Europe in a joint venture with SCA Hygiene Products. The advanced production line for TENA pants is set up in a newly built factory at SCA Hygiene Products´ Hoogezand facilities. The Dutch Economic Affairs Ministry has provided an investment support of 20 percent of total investment of ECU 14 million. The joint venture, combined with the already existing production of SCA Hygiene Products Libero Up&Go diapers, will ultimately create 200 new jobs. Its Hoogezand facilities serve all EU markets. SCA is a global market leader and Europe's largest manufacturer in the field of incontinence products. Global market share and European market share amounts to 22 percent and 39 percent respectively.
