Norsk Limtre is a company with a long tradition in glulam production, offering a wide range of products from interior paneling to decking. Since the early 1990s they have been a customer of SCA, and today they are looking at new ways of using Lodgepole Pine. This partnership combines experience with innovation to develop the wood products of tomorrow.

Curtain Wall: Reducing emissions and construction time

SCA is launching SCA Curtain Wall – a prefabricated wood-based façade system that can reduce climate impact by up to 60 percent while streamlining the construction process. With verified performance and high flexibility, the system provides commercial buildings with a faster, greener, and more precise path from design to completed façade.

SCA Curtain Wall replaces steel and aluminum in the load-bearing façade structure with wood, while the exterior finish can be adapted to meet the requirements of each project. This enables a reduction in climate impact of at least 60 percent compared with traditional façade systems. Each façade element can reduce carbon emissions by up to one tonne, making a tangible contribution to the climate targets of construction projects. The system has been tested and approved by the independent laboratory IFT Rosenheim, meaning it is verified and ready for use in commercial projects.
“A large construction project may require hundreds of façade elements, which can result in a substantial reduction in the overall carbon footprint of the building envelope. The façade system has been tested and approved, and we look forward to supplying it to upcoming projects,” says Johan Larsson, Business Developer at SCA.

Faster construction and greater efficiency
SCA Curtain Wall façade elements are prefabricated and delivered ready for installation at the construction site, where they are mounted directly from the outside using a crane. This reduces the need for scaffolding and enables fast, cost-efficient installation. The high degree of prefabrication allows buildings to be quickly weatherproofed, enabling interior work to begin sooner.
“For larger projects, construction time can be reduced by several weeks, resulting in significant cost savings,” says Peter Rhensbo, CEO of Norrlands Trähus.
A flexible system for architects and developers
SCA Curtain Wall is adaptable at the element level and can be used with various structural systems in both new construction and vertical extension projects. The system offers considerable architectural freedom while serving as a tool for balancing a project’s carbon budget. By combining industrialized production, high precision, and Swedish raw materials, it creates the conditions for reliable deliveries and efficient logistics.
