Flow, planning and precision in movement
Logistics connects all parts of the sawmill. Here, the work is about keeping everything moving – through planning, precision, and the safe transport of both raw materials and finished products.
Logistics at a sawmill is more than just transport. It’s about making the entire chain work, from timber trucks arriving to finished products leaving for delivery around the world. Nothing can become too full, nothing can stand still. You play a crucial role in ensuring every part of the operation has what it needs, exactly when it’s needed.
Forklifts, planning, and coordination
Much of the work takes place behind the wheel of a forklift. You ensure that raw materials reach the right department on time and that there is always space for the next delivery. You keep the sawmill moving – sometimes invisible, but always indispensable. It requires skill, attention, and coordination with operations, maintenance, and planning.
Other roles focus more on the planned aspects of logistics. As a logistics planner or transport coordinator, you coordinate resources, manage flows, and communicate with production, carriers, and warehouses. It’s about keeping track of details while maintaining an overall perspective.
A crucial role in the whole operation
Together, you make up the logistics team, ensuring that wood products move efficiently through every stage, from log to finished product. By optimizing flows and minimizing downtime, you help ensure deliveries happen on time, with low climate impact and high precision.
