SCA has been awarded the Lithuanian Forest Owners Association award for exemplary management of private forests in the Lithuanian county of Klaipeda.

In connection with the award ceremony, Lithuania's Minister of the Environment Kastytis Žuromskas and the Chairman of the Lithuanian Forest Owners Association expressed their gratitude to SCA for its careful forest management work.

The assessment of the forests has been made by a special commission and has been based on criteria where forest management, reforestation, harvesting, biodiversity, infrastructure maintenance and other factors have been rated.

Lars-George Hedlund, Head of SCA's operations in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, sees the award as confirmation that SCA has quickly established itself as a positive contributing force for sustainable and considerate forestry in the three countries.

“Swedish forestry is at the global forefront all the way from planting to forest management, silviculture and consideration during harvesting. Forestry is fundamentally a very long-term operation and therefore it is particularly honourable that SCA, which has not been here for so long, is already being recognised in a context where positive examples of active forestry in harmony with climate and nature are highlighted,” says Lars-George Hedlund.

Since 2019, SCA has acquired forest properties in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and today owns a total of over 70,000 hectares of land in the three countries.
