Star is our CTMP brand and we produce 95,000 tonnes per year. Star is produced from spruce, birch, aspen and pine, and comprises five main grades: Star, Star Birch, Star Birch+, Star Aspen, and Star Fluff.

Star is world leading in bulk and, depending on our customers' requirements, we can tailor make grades with adapted properties. Our in house developed HT technology offers possibilities to produce pulp grades with several unique properties. Quality is a keyword and it embodies the entire value chain, from the selection of a suitable wood raw material to the preparation of the finished pulp.

The Star pulps have a wide range of applications specially when there is a demand for high bulk, absorption or bending stiffness in the final product. Tissue paper, board and "bulky papers" are today our main customer segments.

Star

Star is a softwood CTMP pulp grade available in freeness range from 450-700+ ml CSF and also from unbleached to fully bleached grades.

Star is mainly produced with our unique HT-technology and by using different raw material a wide range of different grades with customer adapted properties could be produced.

Star offers extremely high bulk, low shive contents and high cleanliness, and the main customer segments for Star are tissue and board producers.

One of the benefits with all our flash dried Star pulp is that it can be delivered without bale wire. The bale wires are replaced with water-soluble glue that facilitates handling of pulp bales prior to slushing.

Star Fluff

Star Fluff is specially developed to provide high bulk, high network strength and excellent absorption and is based on long spruce fibres. These properties make it suitable for hygiene products, but also for different special applications.

Our HT technology is used in the manufacture of all Star Fluff pulp. In the manufacturing we carry out a gentle exposure of the fibres without any shortening of the fibre length. Accordingly, we reduce the proportion of fines in the pulp.

Star Fluff grades have a very high bulk and network strength, which means that the pulps are well adapted to products within the hygiene sector, such as baby diapers, incontinence products and feminine hygiene products.

One of the benefits with all our flash-dried Star pulp is that it can be delivered without bale wire. The bale wires are replaced with water-soluble glue that facilitates handling of pulp bales prior to pulping or defibration.

Star Birch

Star Birch is a newly developed hardwood CTMP pulp grade based on Swedish birch wood. The pulp has a high bulk at a given tensile strength compared with competing hardwood products in the market, such as CTMP from aspen.

Star Birch is available in freeness values from 400 ml CSF and by using our unique HT technology we can manufacture very high bulk grades with freeness values up to 700 ml.

The Star Birch grade is principally used in applications that place high demands on bulk, stiffness, absorption, brightness and formation.

These pulps provide an improved formation in comparison to softwood CTMP and also a reduced yellowing. Star birch is suitable for many different applications and is appreciated by, among others, our tissue, board and "bulky papers" customers.

Star Birch+

Star Birch+ is a further development of our Star Birch grade. Excellent bulk and good formation and cleanliness are typical properties for Star Birch+.

Star Birch+ is available in freeness values from 450 ml CSF and by using our unique HT-technology we can manufacture very high bulk grades.

By using a certain amount of softwood fibres we increase the options to tailor made the grade with respect to pulp strength, cleanliness and fibre morphology. Fibre cutting of softwood fibres, in the refining process, generates fibre length and formation properties almost in the same level as for a Star Birch. Birch+ is principally used in the same segments as Star Birch which means applications in tissue, board and "bulky papers" products.

Star Aspen

Star Aspen is our latest member of the Star family. Star Aspen is developed to fit the demands set by our customer in the "wood free" paper segment. Excellent formation, high cleanliness and brightness characterise Star Aspen.

Star Aspen is normally delivered with a freeness of 400 ml CSF and with a bulk level well adapted to most "wood free paper products". The low porosity in the pulp also makes Star Aspen suitable in both coated and uncoated papers with high printability demands.
