Cirrus is a collective name for all green products that are refined from our pulp production.

We produce about 17 000 tonnes/year of pine oil, which is different wood substances extracted from the black liquor. The substance comes from the resins and is a renewable raw material for diesel.
Another green product is turpentine, about 700 tonnes/year. Turpentine is obtained by the sulphate process from the chemical pulp production. The essential oils, found naturally in the wood, can consist of a variety of diverse chemical compounds and can be used in the manufacture of perfumes and other cosmetic products. Essential oils also occurs as a flavouring in foods such as liqueurs, soft drinks, pastries and sweets.

SCA Östrand has an energy cooperation with E.ON regard to heat supply from Östrand pulp mill. The agreement means that SCA will supply approximately 90 GWh of heat on an annual basis to E.ON's district heating network in Timrå. The same amount will be delivered to Sundsvall city.

The mill is more than self-sufficient in electricity. Each year we also produce about 460 GWh green electricity.

Another corner stone in Cirrus products is green district heating. The investment in a new recovery boiler a few years ago has increased electricity generation by 220 GWh, corresponding to the annual heat consumption of 8,800 single-family homes.
