We contribute to a fossil-free community

In order to reduce global warming and achieve the 1.5-degree target according to the UN Climate Panel, the IPCC, we must turn to a fossil-free world. In order to achieve this, both a significant reduction in emissions from fossil sources and a significantly increased storage of coal are required. SCA is Europe's largest private forest owner and contributes to reducing climate impact in several ways.

SCA contributes toward a better global climate as the company’s own forests become increasingly timber-rich and store about 4 million tonnes of CO2 net per year. The renewable products contribute through substitution by reducing fossil emissions equivalent to approximately 5 million tonnes of CO2 per year. Including fossil emissions generated by the company’s operations, the net climate positive effect is about 8 million tonnes of CO2 per year, corresponding to about one-sixth of Sweden’s fossil emissions and is more than the total emissions from all truck traffic and domestic flights in Sweden.
