• National accelerator boosts forest innovations

    On February 1, a new opportunity will become available to forest industry startups from across Sweden that wish to gear up their business concept. Forest Business Accelerator is a business development program in which some ten companies will spend eight months developing and commercializing their product or service in larger markets, assisted by SCA, IBM, Processum and BizMaker.

  • Alf de Ruvo scholarship 2018

    Environmentally friendly energy storage and optimized packaging supported by Alf de Ruvo Memorial Foundation. Every year, a scholarship of SEK 500,000 is awarded to researchers in the area of cellulose fiber-based materials. This year, two researchers are sharing the scholarship: Dr. Britta Andres and Dr. Eric Borgqvist. The Alf de Ruvo Memorial Fund was formed in 2000.

  • The Cancer Research Foundation gets the biggest Christmas gift

    SCA’s Christmas greeting for 2017 to all employees was a donation of 1.5 million SEK to three organisations. The distribution between the three welfare organisations was decided by the employees through the opportunity to vote on SCA's intranet. The receiver of the biggest amount was the Cancer Research Foundation Northern Sweden.

    SCA is joining the Fossil-free Sweden initiative, making the company the 300th organization to back this declaration supporting Sweden in becoming one of the world’s first fossil-free welfare countries.

  • Continued investment in forest accelerator in Västernorrland

    Forest Business Accelerator is a collaboration between SCA, IBM and BizMaker for the development of startups with forest-related business concepts. In the spring of 2017, the program was launched as a pilot, in which seven companies from the entire country were selected for their potential to renew the forest industry using their innovations. Results were achieved quickly, and now it is certain that there will be another round of the program in 2018.

  • Greenpeace in action at the Östrand pulp mill

    Monday October 16, Greenpeace carried out an action against SCA’s pulp mill Östrand in Timrå. Activists from Greenpeace tried to stop all transports in and out of the mill and four activists climbed the old recovery boiler, the highest building on the site, to put up a banderol. By lunch-time the same day, the action was stopped. The police are investigating possible criminal offences.

  • Sofidel Suppliers Sustanaibility Award to SCA Östrand

    SCA Östrand was recognized as best supplier in the Pulp Producers category. Sofidel is a world leading hygienic and household tissue manufacturer. The ceremony took place in Lucca 28 November.
