Hygiene

The following infographic features survey findings released by SCA to commemorate National Handwashing Awareness Week, a week dedicated to decreasing the spread of infectious diseases by empowering individuals to protect themselves and their community through the adoption of handwashing best practices.

The survey revealed that nearly 31% of Americans consider handwashing to be a "necessary hassle." However, more than 50% agree that upgrades like hands-free faucets and soap dispensers encourage handwashing in public restrooms.

How important is proper hand hygiene?

On average, people come in contact with at more than 300 surfaces every 30 minutes, exposing individuals to 840,000 germs. The practice of frequently washing your hands removes many of the germs picked up from other people, contaminated surfaces and animals. It may also have substantial impact on the health of your household and work environment.
