Predator policy

The four large predatory animals – bear, wolf, lynx and wolverine – have natural domiciliary rights in the Swedish fauna. SCA supports the efforts being made to ensure viable stocks of these species.

Within SCA’s license hunting areas you have to have moose hunting rights to be allowed to hunt bear. Major consideration should be taken to local use of acreage, local businesses and livelihood as well as the viewpoints of the local population.

Hunting based on biological knowledge through wildlife research is a natural element in the management of our wildlife stocks, including predatory animals. Compensation for livestock and dogs attacked by predators should fully cover the damage incurred.

This view of our large predators is the basis for being able to ensure their survival over the long term and to gain acceptance for retaining these species within Sweden.
