SCA has a highly limited share of wholly-owned fishing waters, despite our large land holdings.
Jointly owned or so-called collectively-owned waterways comprise the largest portion of the water areas, about 90%, while the remainder is wholly-owned fishing waters. The collectively-owned fishing waters are to a very large extent incorporated in fishery conservation areas.
In our opinion, fishery conservation areas are a favourable form of management, for the owners of the fishing rights as well as the general public, as well as favouring the sale of fishing licenses to the public.
In most cases, fishery conservation areas result in better and expanded fishing opportunities, for the owner of the fishing rights and the public. SCA is linked to a majority of all the fishery conservation areas within the company’s areas of operations.
