Here are some tips to help you succeed.
Scotch and lodge pole pine thrive on dry, healthy soil. Swedish pine also grows well on fine-grained soil, as does spruce. Spruce grows on healthy soil and is also suitable for wet conditions.
The seedlings grow best in inverted humus with mineral soil. If the seedling is planted in a high and bright position, it will also be protected from flooding in scarified areas.
You should cover the humus with at least three centimetres of mineral soil. Do not tramp or pack the soil down, just firm the soil gently with your toe.
