Why is thinning important?

Thinning is an effective way to increase the value of your forest before the final felling.

Why is thinning important?Thinning is important for forest economy in both the long and short term. Correctly implemented, thinning also helps to preserve and develop natural values.

Thinning is carried out when the trees begin to grow too closely together. Removing unwanted trees gives more light, nutrients and moisture to the remaining trees, which are considered to be more valuable and have better growth.

SCA’s forests are thinned on one or two occasions. The first thinning is carried out when trees are around 30 years old.
