ISO 14001 is an international environmental management standard that was established in 1996 by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).
The environmental management standard has been produced to facilitate and streamline the environmental programmes of an organisation or business. The overall purpose of environmental management is to help ensure that environmental programmes are implemented systematically and effectively, and to ensure that continuous improvements in the environmental work will lead to a reduction of the organisation’s total environmental impact.
A company that fulfils the requirements and complies with the standard becomes certified.
Based on the environmental policy
The environmental management system is based on SCA Skog’s environmental policy.
The environmental management standard is a tool that will help us reach our environmental objectives. A key component of the system is always striving for improvement. Within the framework of the system, objectives have been set for nature conservation in forestry, but also in relation to transport, reforestation after harvesting, and the use of pesticides in our nurseries.
A key focus is our aim to produce and deliver our products using technologies, methods and input materials that limit our negative environmental impact, and that we shall be a role model for the utilization of wood-based fuels. In this manner, the role of forestry as a long-term producer of renewable resources will come to the fore.
