Health and Safety Policy Statement

The highlights of SCA’s Health and Safety policy are:

To provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions for all employees, visitors and all other persons who may be affected directly or indirectly by the company’s operations.

The company operates a Health and Safety Management System to manage the risks associated with our premises and activities.  Provision of our objectives is through:

  • A thorough understanding and assessment of hazard and risk within the organisation
  • Ensuring employees at all levels of the organisation achieve effective control of health and safety through communication, education, training, supervision and co-operation
  • A commitment to continual improvement and the reduction of risk of harm, injury or damage to person or property
  • Regarding the requirements all relevant legislation as the minimum standard required

The programmes we have in place to achieve this include:

  • Regular review of this policy and all other policies and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and appropriate to the company
  • Reviewing our Health & Safety programme against the comparable best and regularly setting and reviewing our objectives and targets
  • Providing adequate training for our employees to enable them to work safely and effectively, and to ensure they are competent in the work they carry out
  • Carrying out regular review of risk assessments to identify hazards and existing control measures and completing any corrective actions required to reduce risk to an acceptable level
  • Investing in equipment and premises to maintain the highest health & safety standards
  • Co-operating with our customers and suppliers to ensure that they are aware of any risks posed by our activities and that we are aware of any risks posed by their activities
  • Communicating and consulting employees on all issues affecting their health & safety including the effective communication of this policy

The responsibility for safe working falls upon all employees of the company. Each employee has a duty of care to prevent injury to themselves and to others and to co-operate with management in safety matters.

Our standards are recognised through OHSAS 18001 certification for our network.
