External monitoring of SCA's sustainability work is constantly increasing. Fund managers' and investors' choice of strong sustainability performance companies is often based on external indexes and rankings.
Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
SCA was cited as the best Swedish company for carbon dioxide reporting in the global CDP survey 2010. CDP is an independent non-profit organization holding the largest database of primary corporate climate change information in the world. Some 2,500 organisations across the globe measure and disclose their greenhouse gas emissions and climate change strategies in response to CDP’s information request.
Corporate Knights 2010
In 2010 SCA was ranked for the sixth consecutive year as one of the world’s 100 most sustainable companies by the responsible business magazine Canadian Corporate Knights.
Ethisphere Institute
For the fourh consecutive year, SCA was named one of the world’s most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute in New York, US. Ethisphere reviewed thousands of companies to establish a list of 100 companies that surpassed their industry peers in the area of responsible business. The 2011 list features companies in 38 industries, with 43 companies headquartered outside the United States.
FTSE4Good Index
The FTSE4Good is a market index which measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards. SCA has been listed on the FTSE4Good global sustainability index since 2001.
Global Compact
SCA is a UN Global Compact signatory as of 2008. SCA's Communication on Progress (CoP) reports for 2008 and 2009 were selected as representatives of Best Practice by Global Compact.
Nordic Sustainability Stars
SIX STAR is a Nordic sustainability index launched in 2009 by SIX and Ethix SRI Advisors. SCA is ranked among the top 25 Swedish companies.
The New Economy Carbon Leadership Awards
An award hosted by The New Economy magazine since 2010 recognizing companies who have reached higher levels of carbon reduction and carbon reporting than required by regulatory and voluntary frameworks.
Global Challenges Index
In 2007, the Hanover Exchange and Oekom research AG introduced the Global Challenges Index, in which SCA is included. The index comprises 50 companies that "take active responsibility for future global development by making substantial, forward-looking contributions to meeting global challenges".
Nasdaq OMX
SCA is included in OMX GES Sustainability Nordic and OMX GES Sustainability Sweden, two indexes for responsible investments launched by Nasdaq OMX and GES Investment Services.
Folksam
The insurance company compiles an annual index for responsible business practices. In 2009, SCA shared the top spot when the marks for environment and human rights were combined.
Kempen/SNS SRI Universe
SCA is included in Kempen SNS SRI Universe and is approved for holdings in the Orange SeNSe Fund.
