Italmaceri is a joint venture between SCA and Cartiere Burgo.

The company was founded in 1990 with the opening of the Turin plant. Italmaceri has since opened a further plant in Rozzano, Milan (1996) and acquired 2 depots in the Ancona area (January 2005). In 2000 Italmaceri has opened a depot at Mantua to process the unsold news paper delivered to Burgo paper mill.

June 2010 a new green field depot started up in Caltignaga followed by the new Casarile depot (December 2010) at the SCA Packaging Casarile location. With the opening of the new Casarile depot, the old Rozzano depot has been closed.

Italmaceri is a leader in its field in terms of its modern facilities, service quality and volume of processed material.
All plants are responsible for the collection, transportation and processing (including sorting, shredding and baling) of Recovered Fibre (RCF) and cartonboard in order to supply paper industry mills with raw materials. Furthermore, the Ancona plant is specially-equipped to deal with the destruction of both confidential paper-based materials such as books or documents and non-paper materials such as CDs, DVDs, VHS, etc.

The annual sales volume is appr. 320.000 tons per year.

The main sources of recovered material are the industry, mass distribution, household waste collection, graphics industry and publishing industry. To cater fully to recovered material collection needs of suppliers, Italmaceri can provide covered and uncovered containers, press-containers and stationary presses with containers.

Besides selling its own processed materials, trading is becoming a rapidly growing part of Italmaceri's daily business, which is completely in line with SCA Recycling's long term strategy.
