SCA Östrand has manufactured CTMP since 1982 and it was the first green field mill build for CTMP production.
Since the launch of CTMP, we have been a technology forerunner and developed several unique process solutions and products. Today we use a patented technology developed entirely in-house – the so called HT technology. By increasing the temperature above lignin’s softening temperature in the refining stage, we can manufacture our unique pulp with high bulk, low content of shives and fines.
The recent years we have also developed new products from “new” raw materials often in co-operation with our customers and with FSCN, the world leading mechanical pulp development centre at Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall.
