Star Birch is a newly developed hardwood CTMP pulp grade based on Swedish birch wood. The pulp has a high bulk at a given tensile strength compared with competing hardwood products in the market, such as CTMP from aspen.
Star Birch is available in freeness values from 400 ml CSF and by using our unique HT technology we can manufacture very high bulk grades with freeness values up to 700 ml.
The Star Birch grade is principally used in applications that place high demands on bulk, stiffness, absorption, brightness and formation.
These pulps provide an improved formation in comparison to softwood CTMP and also a reduced yellowing. Star birch is suitable for many different applications and is appreciated by, among others, our tissue, board and “bulky papers” customers.
One of the benefits with all our flash-dried Star pulp is that it can be delivered without bale wire. The bale wires are replaced with water-soluble glue that facilitates handling of pulp bales prior to slushing.
