The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)

Systems for certification of sustainable forest management remain a topic of debate in global forest industry. WWF, for example, has recently advised the international financial community to invest in forest products companies which have obtained Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification.

SCA's Swedish forests were certified under the FSC scheme in January 1999. The Forest Stewardship Council's mission is to achieve environmentally-sound, socially-beneficial and economically-viable forestry world-wide. FSC provides a credible forest certification system to attain this goal.

SCA is one of the first pulp and publication paper producer to offer large volumes of FSC-certified products. This confirms that we fulfil the criteria for conducting responsible forest management.

All our paper mills upholds an FSC Chain of Custody certificate. Being FSC certified shows that you comply with the highest social and environmental standards on the market. Ortviken and Laakirchen are certified as FSC Mixed and Aylesford Newsprint is certified as FSC Recycled.
