SCA R&D Centre conducts mill and market driven R&D as a part of SCA’s business area Forest Products. We cover the complete value-added chain from the raw material in the forest to the final products in the hands of the customer.
In addition to our highly qualified engineers, we have an extensive set of instruments and machinery for physical and chemical pulp and paper testing. Likewise, our appliances for chemical and optical analyses are wide-ranging. We have a broad range of well-developed methods and techniques for many different purposes. We cooperate closely with many partners, for example external research institutes, universities and a number of machine and chemical suppliers.
Efficient processes for both pulp and paper manufacturing are in our focus. With good 
knowledge down to the pure fibre level we can optimize the raw material in our pulp and paper products. In order to be able to initiate new R&D projects we are always looking ahead to see which matters will be of importance in the future.
Even if our work is mainly carried out in R&D projects together with the mills, we also assist with trouble-shooting when needed. Since this has been part of our work for several years, we have gained a broad experience within relevant trouble-shooting areas.
