SCA’s Tork team in China has been cooperating with the Shanghai Health Education Institute since spring 2009 to promote hand hygiene awareness and help improve hygiene standards in public hospitals.

Sponsoring hand hygiene

As a first step, SCA sponsored Shanghai No. 1 People’s Hospital, one of the best public hospitals in the city, with Tork hand wiping systems to be used in all doctor's rooms.

Many doctors have given back very positive feedbacks after trying Tork's disposable hand towels which can help reduce the transfer of bacteria and reduce the risk of hospital infections.

Tracking hand drying behaviours

A tracking research is also being conducted on doctors' hand drying behaviours. The findings will be utilized to develop even better hygiene solutions for professional healthcare environments.

In addition, Tork has created specific materials including posters, stickers etc. to teach people how to wash hands properly to keep away the H1N1 virus. The materials have been distributed among the public hospitals in Shanghai.

"We are proud to be a part of this project and we will keep contributing with as much as we can. What we want to achieve is to not simply to upgrade the hygiene standards in Chinese public hospitals, but also to improve the everyday comfort and well-being of both medical staff and individuals in care." says Daniel Qiu, Sales & marketing manager for SCA’s Tork products in North Asia.
