First team with green priorities
The Philadelphia Eagles football team launched its Go Green campaign in 2003 in an effort to reduce the team’s environmental impact and to inspire fans and business leaders to do the same. This made the Eagles the first team in professional sports to adopt responsibility for the environment as a priority. They remain a leader in sustainable practices among all national sporting teams in the US today.
In 2007, SCA and the Eagles entered an environmental partnership. The Eagles switched to the Tork brand for all of its towel, tissue, napkin and soap dispensing systems at Lincoln Financial Field and at its corporate headquarters, the Nova Care Complex. This was a natural choice because Tork products are made from 100 percent recycled fibre and are Eco Logo and Green Seal certified.
Eagles players at tree planting event
The tree planting event at the end May 2009 included representatives from SCA and the Eagles as well as a selected group of Tork customers. Also on hand were former Philadelphia Eagles players linebacker Gary Cobb, wide receiver Fred Barnett, wide receiver Mike Quick and of course Swoop, the Eagles mascot.
The VIP-participants planted 15 trees. They were added to the 1,500-plus trees and shrubs the Eagles previously planted in the space, more than 150 of which were purchased by fans.
