Thailand’s worst flood in 50 years has swept across the country, affecting the lives of millions of people. In addition to donating Drypers baby diapers to an emergency relief centre on the outskirts of Bangkok, SCA associates have also contributed both their time and personal income towards lending a hand to flood victims.
The flood which has washed over 61 of the country’s 77 provinces in the past two months has put over 8 million Thais in crisis. Tens of thousands of homes and factories have been submerged by flood waters, leaving at least 283 people missing or dead so far. Hundreds of flood victims have been left homeless and are literally living by the roadside, without electricity, drinking water and food.
SCA associates volunteering
To support flood relief efforts, SCA associates in Thailand were offered a half-day off from work on October 11, to volunteer their help with packing food and products for distribution to flood victims.
SCA associates in Thailand are also making their own personal contributions and efforts to alleviate the suffering of fellow Thais in need during this crisis. For example on October 1, Kritsada Kacharthorntip (Sales Operation Manager, SCA Thailand) and his family provided 1,500 packets of food for flood victims living in Phonnangdamtok District, Chainat Province in the Northern Central part of Thailand. Kritsada and his family brought the food to the area and helped to distribute the packets to flood victims there.
SCA sending products to rescue centre
In addition, SCA in Thailand sent cartons of Drypers Soft, Drypers Wee Wee Dry and Drypers DryPantz baby products to the Thammasart University Rangsit Rescue Centre, as a gesture to alleviate the calamity of families with young children affected by the flood crisis. Our SCA associates helped to distribute the baby diapers to families in need.
