SCA is represented in China within Personal Care with Libero baby diapers and TENA incontinence protection. The Libero diapers are available in selected retail channels. SCA has focused on supporting nurses in their work to break social taboos around incontinence. Since 2009 these training programs have been carried out at hospitals in 12 Chinese cities. By late 2010 almost 5,000 nurses from 1,100 hospitals had participated in the program. The plans are to train more than 200,000 nurses during the next few years.

SCA is partnering with Singaporean company ECON Healthcare Group to start the door-to-door home nursing company Jiahu for the elderly, and aim to have 1,000 nurses in Shanghai within a couple of years and then expand to the rest of Asia.

SCA is also represented within Tissue with Tork AFH professional hygiene solutions, Tempo pocket & box handkerchiefs and Vinda toilet tissue, kitchen rolls, facial tissues and handkerchiefs.

Tempo is available in Hong Kong and major Chinese cities. In Hong Kong Tempo has a market share of about 70 percent and has been the leading brand for more than 15 years now.

Vinda is a joint venture owned to 20% by SCA including five tissue plants. Vinda is one of the strongest tissue brands in China, the second largest tissue market in the world.

SCA Asia Pacific’s head office and SCA Hygiene North Asia’s head office are situated in Shanghai. SCA has also an Innovation Centre in Shanghai focusing mostly on incontinence care. Moreover SCA has an office in Hong Kong.

February 2012, SCA makes a binding offer to Aquire the Taiwan-base hygiene products company Everbeauty with sales of baby diapers and incontinence care products in China.

SCA Timber offers sawn and planed solid-wood products of Nordic pine and spruce to China and South East Asia through its sales office in Hong Kong.

History

1997 SCA starts the packaging joint venture SCA Weyerhaeuser Packaging/Wuhan Beverage.

2004 SCA increases ownership in SCA Packaging Asia from 65% to 92.5%.

2006 SCA launches Tork AFH professional hygiene solutions in China. SCA purchases the remaining 7.5% of SCA Packaging Asia (formerly Central Package Group). 2007 SCA acquires 20% of the shares in Vinda, later diluted to 14% when Vinda was listed through an IPO on the Hong Kong stock exchange in July 2007. The same year SCA acquires the Tempo tissue brand from P&G in Hong Kong. 2008 SCA increases ownership in Vinda from 14% to 19%. 2009 SCA launches TENA incontinence protection in Southern China as a pilot. The same year SCA launched Tempo Applewood hanky and Tempo box facial in Hong Kong, and started supplying Tork hygiene solutions to 150 Starbucks outlets in North & South China. Tork supports the nationwide project Health Literacy Promotion by the Chinese government. The same year SCA Timber opens a sales office in China. 2010 SCA is an official partner of the Swedish pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai. The same year SCA divests the Asian packaging operations.

In 2011 SCA launched TENA Belt and TENA Textile in China. SCA inaugurates Innovation Centre in Shanghai. The same year SCA introduces Libero baby diapers in selected sales channels, and started the door-to-door home nursing company Jiahu together with the ECON Healthcare Group.
