Community

At SCA Hygiene Australasia we believe we have a responsibility to contribute to the communities of which we are part.

In Australia, SCA Hygiene Australasia is a major supporter of cancer research and support services through our Sorbent and Libra brands.

Since 2007, Sorbent has partnered with Australia's Cancer Council to support its annual Daffodil Day event, contributing a total of AU$730,000 for the cause to date. Sorbent helps raise the profile of Daffodil Day by creating limited-edition, daffodil-inspired packs for its toilet and facial tissues.

Our Libra brand of feminine hygiene products has been a proud sponsor of The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) since 2006. Each year Libra commits $100,000 towards research into an early detection test for ovarian cancer. Libra's support also extends to raising awareness of the disease and the OCRF via special advertising campaigns. All Libra packaging carries the silver ribbon logo.

Through our Purex brand we partner with Red Cross New Zealand and are the official corporate partner for the Red Cross Annual Appeal.

Through our TENA Healthcare brand, SCA HA provides annual sponsorship support for the New Zealand Continence Association, the Continence Foundation of Australia, Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) and Australian Nurses for Continence.

SCA Hygiene Australasia is quick to offer support when natural disasters and crises strike. For instance, we were a major corporate supporter of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami and in 2009 we donated approximately $100,000 in cash and essential hygiene products to victims of the Victorian bushfires. In 2009, through our Purex brand in New Zealand, we donated approximately NZ$35,000 to the Samoan Red Cross Society to help the victims of the Pacific Tsunami.

SCA Hygiene Australasia also donates hygiene and paper products to not-for-profit groups including Foodbank Australia, The Salvation Army and Ronald McDonald House, as well as feminine hygiene products to women's refuges and charities. We also operate a small donations program in communities where we have facilities.
