Kudos for SCA Packaging Singapore Design Centre team

SCA Packaging Singapore recently bagged another 2 awards from the prestigious "Singapore Star Awards 2008", a nationwide packaging design competition, jointly organized by the Singapore Manufacturers' Federation and Packaging Council of Singapore. This is the forth year in a row that the Design Centre team has brought home awards from the competition.

The team won the Transportation & Protection category award with their "Moongazer Bulk Pack", a re-engineering project for Hewlett Packard company. The new structural design enabled more servers (from 8 to 10 servers) to be packed within the corrugated outer box of the same dimension while still meeting all protective specifications.

They were also conferred the Environmental Sustainable Packaging category award for their "Enviro Cube" submission. This is an environmental friendly protective packaging designed for Delphi company. Each internal protective support is formed up from a single piece of corrugated board without the need for gluing. This "one-piece concept", as the team calls it, generates savings on material and transportation costs.

"Winning the Singapore Star Award for 4 years running is only possible because of the commitment and dedication of the entire design team," says SP Tan, Design Centre Manager for Packaging Asia. "This is indeed a good motivation for the team to continue delivering innovative design and high value packaging solutions to our customers."

SP Tan also informed that these winning entries will be entered for the "Asia Star Award" packaging design competition held in Q4 2008, where winning entries from member countries in Asia will compete for higher awards.

SCA Packaging Singapore has won a total of 17 trophies from the Asia Star Awards and Singapore Star Awards over the last four years.
