SCA’s pulp mill in Östrand, Sweden, produces chlorine-free, bleached softwood kraft pulp under the brand name Celeste, and chemi-thermomechanical pulp (CTMP), under the brand name Star.
Celeste is used in a large number of applications including tissue, publication paper, speciality and filter papers.
Star is characterized for its high bulk, and used in application such as tissue, bulky paper and carton board.
Approximately 40 percent of SCA Östrand’s pulp production is used in the Group’s manufacture of tissue and publication papers. The remaining pulp is sold to external customers.
The brands, Celeste and Star, comes with an unique environmental profile with low carbon footprint, TCF-processes and low emissions which fulfills the criteria’s settled by the Nordic Swan and EU Ecolabel certifications. Both Celeste and Star are certified according to FSC and PEFC, which support controlled wood and responsible forestry.
