SCA's North American tissue business has earned Green Seal certification on an assortment of its products, making Tork the largest Away From Home sanitary paper product brand in North America to earn certification by both Green Seal and by EcoLogo.
An assortment of Tork towels, tissues and napkins are now certified by both Green Seal and EcoLogo, earning the right to display the certification marks of two of the world's premier independent environmental certification organizations.
A majority of all Tork towel, tissue and napkin products in North America are certified as environmentally friendly by EcoLogo, the certification arm of the Environmental Choice Program. Formed in 1988 by the Canadian government, EcoLogo is North America’s oldest independent certification of environmental performance.
Green Seal is widely recognized throughout North America as an independent non-profit organization that is dedicated to safeguarding the environment and transforming the marketplace by promoting the manufacture, purchase and use of environmentally responsible product and services. Working with industry and stakeholders to set environmental standards for products and services, Green Seal operates under international ISO 14020 and 14024 guidelines for environmental labeling programs.
“Because a significant number of our customers and consumers either specify Green Seal certification for purchase of cleaning and sanitary paper products or use Green Seal standards as a model in setting their own environmental criteria for products, the dual certification of Green Seal and EcoLogo will create additional sales opportunities for our distributor partners,” said Joseph Russo, SCA Tissue Vice President of Sales, Distribution U.S. and Canada.
