Graningebruk sawmill completely burned down

At 5:30 a.m. the morning of 8 February, a fire broke out at SCA's sawmill in Graninge. When the fire services arrived at the scene, the building that housed the saw line was completely in flames. The damage was extensive.

An employee discovered smoke coming from the bark room, which is where the fire probably started. The fire is now under control. No one was injured.

Graningebruk sawmill saws primarily spruce to be used as building material, for example, construction wood. The sawmill, which employs 12 people, produces approximately 30,000 cubic meters of wood annually.

- We must investigate the extent of the damage before we make any decisions on the future. Tomorrow, Saturday, we will also hold an information meeting with employees at the mill, says Ulf Larsson, president of SCA Timber.
