Over a business cycle, about one third of the cash flow from current operations (after interest expenses and tax) is normally used for dividends and two thirds for value-creating strategic investments. If the cash flow from current operations exceeds what the company can invest in profitable investments, the surplus is returned to the shareholders by increasing the dividend or used to repurchase the company’s own shares.
Over the past decade the dividend has grown by an average of 9% per year and the proposed dividend for the 2007 financial year is SEK 4.40, representing an increase of 10% compared with 2006.
