Peat Norrbränslen harvests peat in Docksmyran in Jämtland and Saltmyran in Norrbotten. Sod peat and milled peat are produced at both locations. Peat was formed through land areas that became marshland or through lakes being overgrown with vegetation. Peat comprises wetland vegetation, mainly white mosses and sedge that failed to decompose completely due to high moisture levels and low oxygen conditions. Peat is considered by many as a necessity for large-scale use of such wood fuels as grot. The reason is that mixing peat with other biofuels reduces operational problems in heating plants.
